Dear Eileen and Carl,

It's been over 30 years since we first came together.  I thank you for believing in a young architect with not much experience but a love  for what he did.  There will be more on your home as time moves on I can guarantee it.  What is important is that you and I have contributed to the history of an american architecture and have moved the fine art of it all up a peg or two.

Dear Carl,

Thank you so much for the articles on Sam and Julius.  How important they were in the creation of great art forms in Southern California and our nation.  They will be missed in so many ways but most importantly they were the leaders in their craft and showed the way.

I remember visiting my old professor Cal Straub right before he passed on and I asked Cal what is it all about?  We worked so hard to get where we are and why did he dedicate his life to teaching architecture.  He told me he was just passing the torch and as you know Cal was a master residential architect and landscape designer.  He lead the way after WW2 in the Southern California region and taught many of the greats at USC and ASU, including Frank Gehry the talk of todays architect's.  I do believe that Julius and Sam were also passing the torch.

My love to Eileen.

Your architect and friend,
